Inspired by teams making sector and turret gears as low backlash as possible, the Thrifty Lantern gear makes the hardest part of the profile more accessible to teams. Machined as two 4140 steel parts that are pressed together, this eliminates pins walking through the assembled gear.
For generating compatible gears, we recommend this community-driven tool, with all credit going to Dan Karol on 131. We have a modified version of this generator specifically for use with this pinion for large gears.
